Women Empowerment

Empowerment is not just about giving a hand out; it is about giving a hand up.

For 47 years, our mission at Deepalaya has been unwavering: to reach the most marginalized, underprivileged, and forgotten sections of our society. When seven of us came together back in 1979, the challenges were immense, but our vision was simple—to ensure that no child is left behind due to a lack of resources, and every individual is given the tools to stand on their own feet.

Today, we span across 14 states, touching over 14,000 lives annually through education, health, and skilling. But true empowerment goes beyond classrooms. It culminates in sustainable independence.

In my recent conversation with Aarti BR Singh on Social Affair, I had the privilege to share how we are shifting focus heavily toward employability and women’s empowerment. Through our vocational programs—ranging from fashion technology and digital learning to cyber security and tailoring—we aren’t just teaching skills; we are cultivating entrepreneurs. Seeing women from rural pockets like Saharanpur and Mewat establish their own thriving boutiques and micro-enterprises is a testament to what happens when you grant someone access to resources and the autonomy to make their own decisions.

We don’t measure our success by commercial expansion, but by the depth of our impact. Whether it’s supporting a child through an MBBS degree or helping a mother start her own clinic, our reward is seeing them participate actively in nation-building.

I invite you to watch the full interview to learn more about our journey, our challenges, and how we are aligning with grassroots communities to bring real, systemic change.
