  • Joint Director, NIPCCD, Ministry of Women and Child Development

    As Joint Director, I oversee all the Programme activities concerning Child Protection and Child Rights; J J Act 2015, and many other aspects covering ICDS. I also look after the National Children’s Fund and its daily working and have been closely involved as a main coordinator for various programmes of the Ministry as well as NIPCCD viz., STEP, Women in India exhibition, HAUSLA and Capacity Building Programme for Elected Women Representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions.

    I am a National-level Trainer and a certified Master Trainer on subjects/issues like Gender, Women Development, Child Protection, Adoption, Networking of Self-help Groups, Women Empowerment, Community Resource Mobilization and Early Childhood Education.

    As a prolific writer, I contribute regularly to various journals and magazines that deal with issues related to child protection, child development, women empowerment and gender. I have also authored a book titled “Women Stand up to . . .” that was critically acclaimed for the subject it dealt with.

  • Education

    I hold a PhD in Women Empowerment. I completed my Masters in Social Work and did my LLB from Indore University. As a Topper in the University, I am quite well versed with the professional approach and social work methods adopted in the country. I am also a merit award holder with distinction in English Literature at graduation level.

  • Professional Strengths

    I am a professionally trained Social Worker with a passion for Teaching and Training. I have so far trained more than 10,000 participants on various schemes and programmes related to women and children of the Government of India. I have also trained more than 3000 Police Personnel on Gender Sensitization; and have been associated with NGO networking in India and their capacity building.

  • Research

    I have conducted and supervised more than 25 National-level Research studies on gender development and women empowerment. As part of the Rural Women Development and Empowerment Project (SWA SHAKTI), I have been involved in the promotion of information on 18000 self help groups in operation in India, and mobilisation of income generation projects through networking of self help groups across the country.

  • International visits

    As a part of the Gender development and women empowerment programmes, I have visited Bangladesh and Israel wherein I had the privilege to interact with Mohd. Yunus, who is known as a pioneer in promotion of self-help groups in Bangladesh. I have also addressed various communities to sensitise as well as raise awareness on gender development and empowerment from these platforms provided to me.
